Thankfully, we dodged a missile. I am grateful to all our residents and local businesses who helped promote a culture of preparedness. Our community is safer because of your vigilance and cooperation. And thanks to our entire City Staff and Manager Jimmy Morales, and my fellow Commissioners, who all focused their energy on making sure we would be prepared for whatever was coming.
But not everyone was as fortunate. The Bahamas received the worst of it and as the waters and wind subside it is becoming clear that the loss of life and property is catastrophic.
Miami Beach is a City of Kindness and many in our community would like to help. Beginning today and going forward, all Miami Beach Fire Stations will be receiving goods and supplies that we are advised by the Bahamian Ministry of Foreign Affairs would be helpful to their relief effort.
We recommend you drop off supplies between the hours of 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at any Fire Station. The City will assure the supplies make it to the planes that the County has coordinated with for delivery to the Bahamas. The list of supplies and the address of our Fire Stations are below.
